Raising Awareness Toward Ocean & Sun Safety

3 Mile Ocean Paddle - 1 Mile Ocean Swim Races

Wow - What an epic day 6th Annual Waterman Eco-Challenge 2016 was!! We could not have had better weather and conditions. The water was calm, glassy and emerald green and winds were non existent until SW kicked up toward the second half of the 3 mile paddle. The competitor numbers were record breaking! 130 open water swimmers and 95 paddlers and lifeguard kayakers. The scene on the beach at the sponsor tents and Environmental Awareness tents was fun, dynamic, sunny & hot! We had competitors register from as far as California, New York, New Jersey, Maine, DC, Maryland and the Carolinas! It truly is incredible to see how this event continues to grow and how much fun it is for everyone involved! We are so grateful for the support of the swim and paddle communities!!

Waterman Eco-Challenge is such a major undertaking. Team Raw Elements USA & Narragansett Surf Rescue team challenge ourselves each year to find ways to make the event even better than the year before. This all could not be possible without the support of so many and our incredible sponsors! We are so grateful for the support of Narragansett Parks & Recreation and the entire management staff at Narragansett Town Beach for continuing to provide an incredible environment for this event to be what it is!

In honor of Janice ‘Mama C’ Causey.

It is such an honor to be able to have Waterman Eco-Challenge give back in Janice’s name, after all she had given to so many of us. She was an artist, a free spirit who lived life to the fullest, a mentor to so many and had such a big personality that touched everyone around her. As an art teacher at Narragansett High School, Mama C inspired so many young people to follow their dreams. As pilar of our Narragansett Beach community, Mama C was a surf instructor, an ocean lover and a huge supporter of Narragansett Surf Rescue & Waterman Eco-Challenge. In 2015, Waterman Eco-Challenge helped raise $3,000.00 for Janice Causey Memorial Art Scholarship at Narragansett High School.
It’s with great joy that we can say 2016 Waterman Eco-Challenge has raised $5,200.00 for the Janice Causey Memorial Art Scholarship at Narragansett High School!!

‘We'd love to add a very heartfelt thank you to you and to the community! We are once again blown away by the love and generosity this town has shown us since Janice, Mama C's passing. We are so honored to be able to give the Janice Causey Memorial Arts Scholarship each year to aspiring artists graduating from Narragansett High School. Through Waterman Eco-Challenge, we are able to continue to raise money, allowing us to be able to give this scholarship for years to come! We could not think of a better way to honor Janice! We thank you all!’
